A video of actor Urvashi Rautela, who has appeared in films like Waltair Veerayya and Hate Story 4, has ended up online where the actor is seen changing her costume in what appears to be a bathroom. Urvashi is yet to make a statement about the video but it appears that the clip could be a scene from a film, or the result of a deepfake video. Social media comments on the video have not been kind towards the actor. Indian Express has decided not to use the video.

In the last few months, actors like Rashmika Mandanna, Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif have all been victims of deepfake technology. The accused who created a deepfake video of Rashmika was later arrested by Delhi Police. Deepfake video technology allows the creator to make videos by replacing a person’s face and voice thereby creating videos that are fake. Priyanka Chopra also suffered the consequences of this technology when her voice was altered in a video which was said to promote a particular brand.

Right before the Lok Sabha elections, a video of Ranveer Singh also went viral where the actor’s voice was cloned using AI. Ranveer alerted his followers about the video and tweeted, “Deepfake se bacho doston.” He later filed a complaint with Mumbai Police’s Cyber Crime Cell. His spokesperson told ANI, “Yes, we have filed the police complaint and FIR has been lodged against the handle that was promoting the AI-generated deepfake video of Mr Ranveer Singh.”

A similar situation happened with Aamir Khan as well where a video featuring him promoting a particular political party was doing the rounds. His spokesperson gave a statement that read, “We want to clarify that Aamir Khan has never endorsed any political party throughout his 35-year career. He has dedicated his efforts to raising public awareness through Election Commission public awareness campaigns for many past elections. We are alarmed by the recent viral video alleging that Aamir Khan is promoting a particular political party. He would like to clarify that this is a fake video and totally untrue.”
