Meet Orhan ‘Orry’ Awatramani, who partied at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s pre-wedding bash: the ‘liver’ boasts Hollywood and Bollywood pals, but why did Rihanna ask for his earrings?

Orhan Awatramani, better known as Orry, recently shot to fame on social media by posting photos of his lavish lifestyle and parties with famous friends like Kylie Jenner and Paris Hilton
He might rub shoulders with everyone from the Ambanis to Kanye West and Anne Hathaway, but he’s enigmatic too – he refuses to reveal his age and hates when people ask what he does

“Bollywood’s BFF” Orhan Awatramani, better known as “Orry”, is an Indian socialite who is famous for … well, being famous. He claimed the limelight late last year when pictures of him and his Bollywood (and Hollywood) friends went viral on social media.

Now, Orry has built a robust fan base and boasts an Instagram following of 1.3 million at the time of writing. He parties with the Ambanis – the richest family in Asia while patriarch Mukesh is the ninth richest person in the world, per Forbes – even enjoying front-row access to a private concert by Justin Bieber as part of the pre-wedding celebrations for Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, per CNN.

Here’s what we know about the enigmatic man who reportedly calls himself a “liver” (because he’s living, obviously), has a “relevance room” parodying Scream Queens, and charges around US$35,000 to appear at parties.

What’s Orhan Awatramani aka Orry’s background?

The name Orhan has Turkish roots and, according to an interview he gave to MensXP, means “leader of the Turkish people”. However, his parents are from Mumbai, India, and he was raised in Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu. He describes growing up in the town as “cute”, “very American” and “very humble”.

In terms of education, he went to a boarding school in Dhanushkodi in Tamil Nadu, per GQ India, and later studied at New York’s Parsons School of Design, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in fine arts and communication design, reports Mashable. Per his interview with MensXP, he has studied in Mumbai, Tamil Nadu, Connecticut, New York and London. However, he considers himself a “graduate from the school of life”.

While he refuses to reveal his age, he has mentioned that he is “borderline Gen Z” and is over 25 years old, per Times of India.

What does Orhan Awatramani do?

“I never ever want to be asked ‘bhai tu karta kya hai’ [‘what do you do’] ever again,” Orry said to MensXP, going on to call himself a “liver”. (No, not the internal organ.) He continued, “I am living, I’m a liver. I’m here to live, I’m living. Yeah, I am liver.” A clip of that segment of the interview has since gone viral.

He told Cosmopolitan India that he is “a singer, a songwriter, a fashion designer, a creative director, a stylist, an executive assistant, a shopper, and sometimes a football player”.

However, DNA India reports that he is a special project manager at Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), which is owned by Mukesh Ambani. That explains his close ties with the Ambani family.

Orry also once mentioned to Cosmopolitan India that he works very hard … on himself. Before he got famous, he worked as a waiter, actor, and graphic designer, per Times of India. He’s also a YouTuber.

He has besties in Bollywood and Hollywood

Orry reportedly hangs out with Bollywood star kids like Janhvi Kapoor, Ananya Pandey, and Nysa Devgan, but told Cosmopolitan India that his only friend from the Indian film industry is Bhumi Pednekar.

However, he isn’t just “Bollywood’s BFF” – he has pals in Hollywood, too. He has been reportedly spotted rubbing shoulders with high-profile US celebrities like Anne Hathaway, Ye, Kylie Jenner, Joe Jonas and Paris Hilton.

And he has plenty of colourful stories to share about said A-lister friends. Hilton once advised him to “never be at a party beyond 3 AM”, per Times of India. He told Cosmopolitan India that his birthday celebration with Jenner “put him on the map”; the same publication reports that Ye was impressed by his ‘fit at a Burberry show, and the rapper’s team later invited him to Ye’s fashion show in Paris. He faked a shiver when he met Hathaway, per The Indian Express. He met Jonas at a restaurant – and “overstayed” his welcome, per MensXP.

He was on the Indian version of Big Brother – Bigg Boss

Orry made his TV debut on the Indian version of Big Brother, called Bigg Boss. He joined the show as a “wild card entry” in season 17, which boosted his popularity even more. On the show, he revealed that he wanted a “rich wife”.

His earring exchange with Rihanna was orchestrated

Orry went viral earlier this year when Rihanna asked for his earrings at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s pre-wedding bash in Jamnagar. However, Orry revealed later that it was just a marketing trick he calls “Objects of Orry” or “Objects of Interest”. “I wore these giant dandelion earrings, knowing she would see them. And, rightfully, she did,” he explained to India Today. He also admitted to not knowing who Rihanna was “for the longest time”.

He had a hair transplant

Orry told Vogue India that he was “understandably conscious” about hair loss and got a hair transplant because “it’s better to have it done now than to do quick touch-ups now and then or having to do a major transplant 10 years later”.
