Kareena Kapoor: Bollywood star actively fights for women's rights

Kareena Kapoor Khan was born on September 21, 1980, and is an Indian actress. She is famous for her appearances in many classic Indian films such as “Omkara” and “3 Idiots”. She has been working with UNICEF since 2014 to support girls’ education and improve the quality of education in India.

Kareena was born and raised in a family with a tradition of cinema. Her great-grandfather was filmmaker Prithviraj Kapoor – one of the founders of Indian cinema. In addition to her parents and sister, her two grandfathers, an uncle and a cousin are also famous Bollywood actors. Being exposed to films and acting from an early age motivated her to become an actress. According to Kareena, her name was taken from the name of the female lead in the novel “Anna Karenina” that her mother read while pregnant with her.

Kareena’s first film was “Refugee” released in 2000. After the success of that film, she continued to act in many other famous films. However, her roles were gradually criticized for being repetitive and boring. By 2004, her roles in “Chameli” and “Omkara” broke her image out of the previous stereotype. Kareena has received many prestigious awards in her career and is currently one of the highest-paid actresses in Bollywood.
