RCB are set to face RR in the Eliminator of the Indian Premier League 2024. Just hours ahead of the game, media reports were rife that RCB cancelled their practice session due to a terror threat to Virat Kohli. However, IndiaToday.in has learnt that RCB cancelled their practice session due to excessive heat and not terror threat.

Sources told Inditoday.in that RCB delayed their practice session due to excessive heat in the afternoon and wanted to hold a delayed practice session. They were told that the floodlights could only be available till 6:30 in the evening, after which the team cancelled their session on Wednesday, 22 May.

“They changed the time initially it was from 2 pm to 5 pm. Then they asked from 4 pm to 6 pm. We told the team that the floodlights are available only after 6:30 pm. It was permissible, that was not an issue. However, the weather was 45 degrees Celsius. So they decided not to practice to avoid any health issues to the players. There was no issue related to any security threat,” a top source in the Ahmedabad stadium has told IndiaToday.in.

“We also gave them the option of giving indoor practice arena but they said they will skip the session due to heat,” he further added.

RCB have been in sensational form going into the playoffs this season. From the brink of getting knocked out, RCB have won 6 games in a row to stage an incredible comeback in the tournament. RCB beat CSK by more than 17 runs to edge the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side into the playoffs. The team will face RR on Wednesday, and if they win, will face SRH on the 24th to push for a chance in the final of the tournament
