Mom-to-be Deepika Padukone turned heads at the Mumbai pre-release event for her sci-fi flick Kalki 2898 AD. The actress dazzled in a black bodycon dress and matching heels, radiating a pregnancy glow. However, online critics ignited a firestorm. Some netizens questioned the authenticity of her baby bump, while others focused on her footwear choice. But amidst the negativity, Deepika appeared unfazed, even cradling her bump during media interactions.

The debate gained momentum when actress Richa Chadha, also expecting a baby, chimed in with a now-viral statement: “No uterus, no opinion.” This ignited discussions about unsolicited advice during pregnancy. Richa, who previously shared the screen with Deepika and Ranveer Singh in Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, is all set to embrace parenthood alongside her husband, Ali Fazal.

One Instagram user questioned Deepika’s decision to wear heels while pregnant, especially considering her height others wrote that she was faking her pregnancy. But a supportive influencer quickly came to her defense. Highlighting Deepika’s established fashion sense, the influencer emphasised that comfort is key and Deepika, not online critics, gets to decide what she wears.

Following the event, Deepika jetted off to a babymoon with Ranveer, embracing their pre-parenthood phase. A viral video captured the couple strolling through London streets, Deepika sporting comfy sneakers and a loose coat, a shift from the heels that sparked debate.

Deepika has been constantly facing trolling following the announcement of her pregnancy. The actor was trolled after she stepped out to vote during the Lok Sabha elections with husband Ranveer Singh.
