Directed by J. P. Dutta, Refugee also marked the Bollywood debut of Abhishek Bachchan. Released in 2000, the film revolves around an unnamed Indian Muslim who helps illegal refugees from India and Pakistan cross the border through the Great Rann of Kutch. The movie, also starring Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty and Anupam Kher, is said to be inspired by the short story Love Across the Salt Desert by Keki N. Daruwalla.

Kareena last appeared in Rajesh A. Krishnan’s female-led heist comedy Crew, which also features Tabu and Kriti Sanon. Released theatrically on March 29, Crew crossed the Rs 20-crore mark at the global box office on its very first day. The film is produced by Shobha Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Ektaa R. Kareena will next be seen in Rohit Shetty’s upcoming action thriller Singham Again alongside Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Tiger Shroff, Arjun Kapoor and Jackie Shroff. The fifth instalment in Rohit’s cop universe, Singham Again is slated to hit theatres on November 1 on the occasion of Diwali.
