FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the video, and found it to be digitally altered.

Checking the official social media accounts of both actors, the NM team could not find any posts confirming their separation.

However, analysing the viral video carefully, we noticed several discrepancies, such as a lack of synchronisation between the audio and lip movements, as well as issues with video clarity. In the clip, Abhishek Bachchan is heard saying, “This July, Aishwarya and I have decided to get divorced, but obviously, the last couple of years have been weird for my daughter Aaradhya. Today, I am here to talk about the reason for getting divorced with…” Moreover, had there been any such incident, it would have made major headlines globally, and nationally.

Also, conducting a Reverse Image Search using the viral video keyframes, we identified the original version of the video, uploaded on Abhishek Bachchan’s official Instagram handle on November 7, 2022. Here, he is seen discussing an NGO programme, Nanhi Kali. He talks about a photo event and encourages people to participate in supporting the education of underprivileged girls.

Therefore, it is clear that the video has been audio-cloned using deepfake technology, and viral with misleading narratives.
