Salman Khan’s sets are a food lover’s paradise, here’s why!
Actress Daisy Shah, who rose to fame with her debut opposite Salman Khan in Jai Ho, recently shared a fascinating behind-the-scenes glimpse of the superstar’s film sets.
Salman Khan Film’s Set Is A Feast for the Senses
In an exclusive interview with Mid-Day, Daisy described the experience of dining on a Salman Khan film set as a “feast-like affair.” The elaborate setup includes live pani puri and dosa counters, alongside an array of other delicacies like vada pav and flatbreads. “It’s his vanity van, he has a huge tent, there are three tables with 10-15 chairs around them, and there’s another table where the food is laid out. It’s like a buffet system,” Daisy elaborated, adding, “I remember snacking on flatbreads, vada pavs, and sometimes there would be live pani puri and dosa counters.”
Daisy Shah Is A Foodie At Heart
Daisy, who considers herself a “Vile Parle girl,” reminisced about her childhood spent in the Mumbai suburb. Recalling her love for South Indian cuisine, she shared memories of visiting the popular eatery, Natraj Pav Bhaji, with her family. “It was like a closed garage where all different families would come, pick a chattai (mat), and sit in a circle to eat,” she fondly remembered.
With pride in her Gujarati roots, Daisy shed light on the nuanced flavours of the cuisine, often misunderstood beyond dhoklas and fafdas. “Gujarati kadhi is not yellow,” she explained. “People are completely oblivious to the cuisine. I have been disappointed by going to certain restaurants and I’ve ordered and received Punjabi kadhi.”
Daisy, an alumna of Khalsa College in Matunga, a hub for South Indian food in Mumbai, recounted her college days indulging in favourites like dosa, upma, and idiyappam. However, she confessed to occasionally indulging in a samosa with loads of red chutney from the college canteen.
Daisy Shah Speaks On Maintaining Fitness
Despite the culinary temptations on set, Daisy revealed her dedication to fitness. “I am somebody who doesn’t believe in having one cheat day in a week,” she stated. “I have my cheat months because when I have to prepare for a project, I go on a diet and rigorous workouts for like 6 to 7 months. That’s how I work, and that’s how my body reacts. Everybody’s metabolic rate is different, showing results is different,” she concluded.
