Ajay Devgn made some candid confessions about his professional life, and revealed how he has continued to stay relevant in the business with sheer dedication.

Ajay Devgn is one of the finest actors in the Hindi entertainment domain, and it is safe to credit him for popularising the tough guy image in films. It was in 1991 when he made his debut with the film, Phool Aur Kante, and since then, he hasn’t looked back on his professional life. However, Ajay has been one such artist who has stayed relevant over the years, and it is every now and then that he continues to mesmerise everyone with his unconventional spectacle on the celluloid. His recent performances, in films like Shaitaan, Drishyam, Maidaan, Shivaay, Tanhaji and more, have cemented his name to an altogether different pedestal.

Ajay Devgn reveals he feels restless when he is not working on the sets

In a recent interaction with NH Studioz, during the promotion of his upcoming film, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, Ajay Devgn opened up on how he has managed to stay relevant in the film industry for so many years, considering how much he evolves with each passing project of his. The actor explained how he doesn’t like to take any breaks, since he finds it difficult to engage himself in other work while sitting idle. Explaining how he feels the happiest on the sets, Ajay said:

“Gradually, you start forgetting all your hobbies. And now, when you have a break, you really don’t know what to do with yourself. You realise that you enjoy being on set the most. I’m the happiest on set, or when I’m working.”

Speaking along the same lines, Ajay Devgn then took the example of eminent Bollywood legend, Amitabh Bachchan and explained how the veteran star, even at the age of 80, hasn’t ceased to work or lessen his schedules. He then explained how taking a break from work tends to make people feel that they are ageing faster. In his words:

“I also believe – and I hope everybody believes this as well – that till whatever age you live, you keep working. The moment you stop working and decide to chill in life, you will age three times faster. Look at Mr Bachchan. He loves to work, he’s continuously working at this age also. He’s intelligent, normal, sane today also, only because he’s working.”

In his personal life, Ajay Devgn is married to Bollywood actress, Kajol, and the couple is blessed with two children, Nysa and Yug. Speaking about the former, the star-daughter has already become an internet sensation, and is often spotted during public appearances. However, there have been a lot of times that Nysa has become a victim of incessant trolling, since nay-sayers often find loopholes in the way she presents herself. Earlier, while speaking at Koffee With Karan 8, Ajay had addressed the matter and revealed that while neither he nor his daughter like such trolling, unfortunately, they don’t have much to do about it.

When Ajay talked about that one moment in his acting career when he wanted to stop

Back in 2023, while attending the Critics’ Choice Awards, Ajay Devgn made a candid revelation, remembering the one time in his career when he decided to stop when suddenly there was an abrupt stop to the number of projects that he bagged. Ajay mentioned how he started to feel disinterested, and even thought of quitting his career. He expressed:

“That was the point where I felt that I don’t want to work anymore, and I stopped doing this. I started doing two or three films in a year. That was the only phase.”
