Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamala Haasan’s Kalki 2898 AD has emerged as the strongest force at the box office in 2024. Taking over the lifetime collection of Pathaan, the film is only on an upward climb even in the third week of its release. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the Prabhas starrer collected Rs 14.45 crore on day 17, bringing its domestic total to Rs 564.28 crore (including early collections for Sunday).

Kalki’s domestic collection just after two weeks has taken over Pathaan’s lifetime domestic collection. Overseas too, the Prabhas and Deepika-starrer has been shattering records. On Saturday, the Nag Ashwin directorial crossed the Rs 1000 crore mark, as per figures the film’s team released. What is also amazing to see is that even in its third week, with new releases, Kalki 2898 AD is seeing growth in both regional and mainstream markets. In comparison to Friday, Kalki did a business of Rs 5 crore in Telugu (on Friday, it earned just Rs 1.75 crore). Even in the Hindi-speaking belt, the film earned Rs 8 crore compared to its collection of Rs 3.8 crore on Friday.

Kalki 2898 AD has been hailed by the audience as well as critics. While the story has received criticism, the cinematic canvas of Kalki 2898 AD is what makes it a treat to watch on the big screen. With the film still being a strong force, it is predicted that it will even overtake Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal’s domestic collection after it surpassed the film’s worldwide collection. Sacnilk had reported on Saturday that Kalki 2898 AD’s worldwide collection stood at Rs 888.60 crore.

With such a roaring response commercially, Kalki 2898 AD is being developed into a franchise. The Prabhas starrer will have a sequel too. In a recent interview, director Nag Ashwin revealed that they have already begun shooting for the sequel 20 days back.
